This dramatic painting was named The Patriarch
at the 2007 Asia Painting Competition; themed Expressive Key but didn't win the nominated prize. I find myself easily lost in the landscape of the elephant skin. In this composition, I chose not to show the entire elephant thus creating the bull larger than life, as well as lending importance to the cattle egrets. I found this old bull in China Wildlife Reserve Park as he came to watering hole to drink. His body language clearly told me he did not want to share! The Patriarch is now available in Chinese Fine Art Gallery which main focus was a wildlife paintings. The original size is about 19 x 27 inches, acrylic on linen, well this is just a private photo of my actual canvas painting. Hope You'll gonna like it, because I don't have enough skills to paint elephant.
